3 gallons of paint will be needed

What we have to do here is to get the area of the rectangular prism, asides the area of its base

The prism is of the dimension 20 ft by 10 ft by 8 ft

As we can see, the rectangle of the base is of dimension 20 ft by 8 ft

So, we need to exclude this area

We have the general area of the prism as that of a cuboid with its calculation as follows;

\begin{gathered} A\text{ = 2(lb + lh + bh)} \\ \text{Subtracting the area of the base;} \\ A\text{ = 2(lb + lh + bh) - lb} \\ l\text{ = length = 20 ft} \\ b\text{ = breadth = 8 ft} \\ h\text{ = height = 10 ft} \\ A\text{ = 2((20)(8) + (20)(10) + (8)(10))-(20)(8)} \\ A\text{ = 2(160 + 200 + 80)- 160} \\ A\text{ = 2(440) - 160} \\ A\text{ = 880-160} \\ A\text{ = 720 square ft} \end{gathered}

Now, one gallon will cover 230 square feeet;

The number of gallons that will cover 720 square ft will be;

(720)/(230)\text{ = 3.13 galllons}

Approximately, 3 gallons of paint sill be needed3 gallons of paint w
