2y + 5z = 50 .....equation 1

x + y = 19 ......equation 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of questions worth 2 points = y

the total 2 points = 2 × y = 2y

Let the number of questions worth 5 points = z

the total 5 points = 5 × z = 5z

The total number of points given = 50

2y + 5z = 50 .....equation 1

We are told the total questions = 19

The sum of the question = number of questions worth 2 points + number of questions worth 5 points

x + y = 19 ......equation 2

Since we are told to only write the sytem of equations, we won't solve it.

The system of equation to represent this:

2y + 5z = 50 .....equation 1

x + y = 19 ......equation 2
