To find the area of the arrow you sum the area of the square and the area of the triangle:


A=A_s+A_(\Delta)

Area of a square:


A_s=s^2

s is the measure of one side of the square

Area of a triangle:


A_(\Delta)=(1)/(2)b\cdot h

b is the measure of the base and h is the height of the triangle.

Then, the area of the arrow is:


A=s^2+(1)/(2)b\cdot h

s= 3ft

b= 3ft+2.5ft+2.5ft=8ft

h=5ft


\begin{gathered} A=(3ft)^2+(1)/(2)(8ft)(5ft) \\ \\ A=9ft^2+(40)/(2)ft^2 \\ \\ A=9ft^2+20ft^2 \\ \\ A=29ft^2 \end{gathered}Then, the area of the arrow is 29 square feet
