Solution

A conditional relative frequency compares the frequency to the marginal total that represents the condition of interest. The differences in conditional relative frequencies are normally used to determine if or not there is any association between the two categories.

To find the conditional frequency, we divide the joint frequency by the marginal frequency total that represents the condition being investigated

The joint frequency is the ratio of the frequency in a particular category and the total number of values in that category.

\text{Conditional relative frequency = }\frac{Joint\text{ relative frequency}}{\text{Marginal frequency total}}
