$\begin{gathered} \text{B is the midpoint of AC,} \\ So,\text{ AB=BC} \\ 3x=x+3 \\ 3x-x=3 \\ 2x=3 \\ x=(3)/(2) \\ x=1.5 \end{gathered}$
