The circumference of a circle of radius r is:

C=2\pi r

And the area is:

A=\pi r^2

The circular flower bed has a diameter of d = 12 feet. The radius is half the diameter:

r = 12/2 = 6 feet.

Calculate the circumference:

\begin{gathered} C=2\pi\cdot6\text{ ft} \\ C=12\pi \end{gathered}

Calculate the area:

\begin{gathered} A=\pi\cdot(6\text{ feet})^2 \\ A=36\pi\text{ }feet^2 \end{gathered}
