Question: what is the sum of (2x^2 + 5x -3) and (-3x^2 -10 + x2): that is the sum of

(2x^2+5x-3)and(-3x^2-10+x^2\text{)}

Solution:

We want to know:

S=(2x^2+5x-3)+(-3x^2-10+x^2\text{)}

we put together similar terms:

S=(2x^2-3x^2+x^2)\text{ + (5x) + (-3-10)}

Now, we add the coefficients of each variable:

S=(0x^2)\text{ + (5x) + (-13)}

that is equivalent to say

S=\text{5x -13}

Then the sum is

S=\text{5x -13}
