We will simplify this expression using the order of operations: for each term, first we solve the powers, then the products and quotients and finally the additions and substractions.

The parenthesis can override this order.

Then, for this case we will have:

\begin{gathered} (6-8)^3+(7)/(2) \\ \\ (-2)^3+(7)/(2) \\ \\ -8+(7)/(2) \\ \\ -(16)/(2)+(7)/(2) \\ \\ -(9)/(2) \end{gathered}

Answer: -9/2
