We are asked to solve the system of equations using the elimination method.

In the elimination method, we need to add or subtract the two equations so that one of the variables gets canceled.

Look at the equations, notice that if you add the two equations then the x variable will be canceled.

Since the x is canceled, now we can easily find the value of y

`\begin{gathered} 6y=-36 \\ y=(-36)/(6) \\ y=-6 \end{gathered}`

Now simply, substitute this value of y into any of the equations to get the value of x
