Step 1

We can convert 2/5 to a decimal by using long division. In this method, we divide the divisor by the dividend. The divisor is the denominator, 5 and the dividend is the numerator, 2.

The process is thus;

5 cannot divide 2 because 5 is bigger than 2, so we write 0. and add 0 behind 2

So the quotient or answer gotten is 0.4

Therefore, 2/5 in decimal = 0.4

Answer; 2/5 in decimal = 0.4

Step 3

Convert 0.5 to a fraction

For this, we write 0.5 as;

(0.5)/(1)

Then multiply the numerator and denominator by 10

\begin{gathered} (0.5*10)/(1*10)=(5)/(10) \\ Reduce\text{ }(5)/(10)=(1)/(2) \end{gathered}

Answer; 0.5 = 1/2
