We have the following:

Solving an inequality by means of multiplication and division is the same as an equation except when negative number handled, since when this happens the sing of < or > is reversed.

For example:

\begin{gathered} ax\ge b \\ (ax)/(a)\ge(b)/(a) \\ x\ge(b)/(a) \\ -ax\ge b \\ (-ax)/(-a)\ge(b)/(-a) \\ x\leq-(b)/(a) \end{gathered}

It can be seen that the case of negative changes from => to <=
