Part A: 0.6x = 48

Part B: x = 80

Explanation:

-----PART ONE:

60% in decimal notation is 0.6

By taking a percentage of a number, you are multiplying that number by that percentage in decimal notation

60 percent of x can therefore be rewritten as 0.60x, or 0.6x

0.6x = 48

-----PART TWO:

0.6x = 48

Divide both sides by 0.6 to isolate x

x = 80
