There are two squares and they have one side as follows: (Note! it is a square, so it will have two equal sides).

\begin{gathered} S_1=8in \\ S_2=(1)/(2)S_1=(1)/(2)(8in)=4in \end{gathered}

We now have found the side of the two squares therefore we can now find the area of the two as follows:

\begin{gathered} A_1=(S_1)^2=(8in)^2=64\text{ in}^2 \\ A_2=(S_2)^2=(4in)^2=16\text{ in}^2 \end{gathered}

We have found the two areas of two squares.
