-2(x+3)=-2(x+1)-4

First, we use the distributive property to get rid of the parenthesis.


-2x-6=-2x-2-4

Now, we sum 2x on each side


\begin{gathered} -2x-6+2x=-2x-6+2x \\ -6=-6 \end{gathered}

As you can observe, the variables were eliminated and the resulting equation is true. This means the equation has infinite solutions.
