\begin{gathered} y=x+5 \\ y=-x^2+x+6 \end{gathered}

in order to find the intersection of both functions equal the expressions

x+5=-x^2+x+6

equal to 0 the expression by bringing all to one side

x+5+x^2-x-6=0

simplify the expression

x^2-1=0

solve the expression

\begin{gathered} x^2=1 \\ x=\pm\sqrt[]{1} \\ x_1=1;x_2=-1 \end{gathered}

the graphs intercept at x=-1 and x=1
