GIVEN:

We are given six campers and three camp activities;

Hernan, Jonelle, Kwong, Lisette, Mohammed and Nestor.

The activities are swimming, tennis and volleyball.

Required;

To assign each camper to exactly one activity, and at the same time to assign each activity to exactly two campers.

Solution;

The conditions given for assigning each camper would be used in determining whether or not each option is an accurate assignment of campers to activities.

The first condition is;

Kwong is not assigned to the same activity as Lisette.

This effectively eliminates option D. Here, Kwong and Lisette were both assigned to volleyball.

The next condition is;

Mohammed is not assigned to volleyball.

This effectively eliminates option C. Here, Jonelle and Mohammed were both assigned to volleyball.

The next condition is;

If Lisette is assigned to swimming, then Hernan is assigned to volleyball.

We would take have taken option B. However, the problem here is Jonelle should be assigned to volleyball, hence option B would not be a proper assignment.

We now have options A and E.

In both options, Jonelle is assigned to volleyball.

Note however that if "Lisette is assigned to swimming, then Hernan is assigned to volleyball."

In option E, Lisette is assigned to swimming but Hernan is not assigned to Volleyball. This also effectively removes option E.

Therefore, option A is the only logical arrangement given the conditions that must be met.

ANSWER:

Option A
