Given

total cost of leasing a car at the end each month

Find

Write an equation in slope-intercept form

Step-by-step explanation

Let y represent the total cost , of leasing a car for x months.

slope intercept form is given by

y = mx + b

from table , we get two equations ,

1859 = m + b ...............1)

2577 = 3m + b ...............2)

now solve these two equations by elimination method ,

subtract both equations

\begin{gathered} 1859-2577=m+b-3m-b \\ -718=-2m \\ m=359 \end{gathered}

put the value of m in equation 1 to find the value of b

\begin{gathered} 1859=359+b \\ 1500=b \end{gathered}

so , the equation becomes

y = 359x + 1500

Final Answer

Hence , the equation in slope-intercept form is y = 359x + 1500
