A patient is advised by his doctor to reduce his daily soda intake by 20%. Currently he drinks 5 8 oz. cans of soda per day. How many ounces of soda can the patient drink if he reduces his intake by 20 %?

First, we determine the total:


5\ast8oz=40oz

Now, we determine how much the patient will drink:


x=40-40(0.2)\Rightarrow x=32

So, the patient will have to drink 32oz.
