The diagram is given.

To determine the area of the paper that remains.

First calculate the area of rectangle , using the formula.

A=l* w
A=27*12=324sq.\operatorname{cm}

The diameter of semicircle is given 12 cm.

To calculate the area of semicircle , use the formula.

A=(\pi)/(2)(r^2)
A=(3.14)/(2)*((12)/(2))^2=56.52sq.cm

Then the area of paper that remains will be the area of rectangle subtracted from area of two semicircle .

A=324-(2*56.52)=324-113.04=210.96sq.cm

Hence the area of paper that remains is 210.96 sq.cm.
