Given: m = 1.2 kg, m' = 0.7 kg, u = 14 m/s , u' = 0 m/s (at rest), v = 9 m/s.

Substitute these values into equation 2

v' = [(1.2×14)+(0.7×0)-(1.2×9)]/0.7

v' = (16.8-10.8)/0.7

v' = 6/0.7

v' = 8.6 m/s
