A boy pushes a box with a net force of 20 N, if the box has a mass of 10 kg, what is the acceleration of the box? (Numeric answer only, no units)

Given:


\begin{gathered} F=\text{ 20N} \\ m=10\operatorname{kg} \\ a=\text{?} \end{gathered}

We have from Newton's second law of motion:


F=ma

Substitute the values,


\begin{gathered} 20=10* a \\ a=(20)/(10) \\ a=2\text{ } \end{gathered}

Hence the acceleration of the box is 2 m/s^2, that is


=2ms^(-2)
