Determine the value of y by using the pythagoras theorem.

`\begin{gathered} (y)^2=(12)^2+(9)^2 \\ =144+81 \\ y=\sqrt[]{225} \\ =15 \end{gathered}`

As triagles are similar by AA simillarity. So ratio of corresponding sides are equal.
