Determine the value of x by using pythagoras theorem.

\begin{gathered} (x)^2+(3)^2=(5)^2 \\ x=\sqrt[]{25-9} \\ =4 \end{gathered}

Determine the value of y by using the pythagoras theorem.

\begin{gathered} (y)^2=(12)^2+(9)^2 \\ =144+81 \\ y=\sqrt[]{225} \\ =15 \end{gathered}

As triagles are similar by AA simillarity. So ratio of corresponding sides are equal.
