SIMPLIFY THE FOLLOWING EXPRESSION BY DISTRIBUTING 9(2 + 8y)

To simplify this expression, we need, first, apply the distributive property, and we can do this as follows:


9\cdot(2+8y)=9\cdot2+9\cdot8y=18+72y

As we can see, we multiply 9 by each of the terms into the parenthesis.

The expression can be expressed as:


18\cdot(1+4y)=18(4y+1)

And this is a simplified expression we were looking for (the previous expression).

(18 is a common factor in 18 + 72y.)
