• Zack pulls out a coin, records its value, and then puts the coin back into the jar.
• Zack does this same process 8 times and records 1 quarter, 2 dimes, 2 nickels, and
3 pennies.

Answer:

Explanation:

3 coins pulled are 10 cents or more

5 coins are under 10 cents

so 3 out of 8 coins are 10 cents or more

the jar contains 200 coins

This is a ratio problem 3 is to 8 as x (an unknown value) is to 200

3/8 = x/200 solve for x

times both sides by 200

200(3/8) = x solve directly here using a calculator

600/8 = x or keep similifying until you can divide more

300/4 = x easily I kept dividing the numerator and the

150/2 = x denominator by 2 until i got 150/2 = 75

75 = x
