A local rectangular shaped pool used by lap swimmers has dimensions 25 yd by 30 yd and is 5.7 feet deep. Find the cost for filling the pool if the city charges $1.50 per 1000 gallons. Use the conversion 1 gallon = 0.134 cubic ft. Round your answer to two decimal places.

Given:

Dimensions of pool is 25 yd by 25 yd and 5.7 feet deep

1 yd = 3 feet

so dimension in feet is:

\begin{gathered} =25*3\text{ f}eet \\ =75\text{ f}eet \end{gathered}

Demensions of pool is 75 feet by 75 feet and 5.7 feet deep

So the volume of pool is:

\begin{gathered} \text{Volume =length}*\text{ width}*\text{ height} \\ \text{Volume}=75*75*5.7 \\ \text{Volume}=32062.5 \end{gathered}

1 gallon = 0.134 cubic feet

so:

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ gallon =0.134 cubic f}eet \\ 1000\text{ gallon = 0.134}*1000\text{ cubic fe}et \\ =134\text{ cubic f}eet \end{gathered}

Cost of fill 134 cubic feet is $1.50 so cost to fill 32062.5 cubic feet is:

undefined
