Problem N 6RP

we know that

12 out of 27 students have a pet

so

Applying proportion, find out how many students have a pet for 162 total students

12/27=x/162

solve for x

x=(12/27)*162

x=72

the answer is 72 students

Rule of three

27 students -------> 12 have a pet

162 students ----> x

162*12=27*x

x=(162*12)/27

x=72
