a) Brand X median = 13 hours

Brand Y median = 16 hours

b) Brand Y consist of batteries with better battery life compared to Brand X

a) Here, we want to get the median value of each of the two data sets

As we can see, each dataset consist of 5 distinct points. The median value is the mid-value of each of the plots

It is the third value counting from either end of the plots

For Brand X, the median value is 13 hours

For Brand Y, the median value is 16 hours

b) Secondly, we will like to compare the median values of the data sets

As we can see, the median value of the secod brand (Brand Y) is bigger than the inner value of the first brand (Brand X)

So what does this signify?

The median generally signifies the mid-value as said earlier. The higher value of median obtained in the second brand means that the values of the data set of the second brand is higher. Hence, we can conclude that values in Brand Y have higher battery life. Thus, Brand Y produces batteries with better battery life than brand X
