x_(2) =4/5

Explanation:


a=5, b=-14, c=8


x=\frac{-(-14)+-\sqrt{(-14)^(2)-4(5)(8) } }{2(5)}


x=(14+-√(196-160) )/(10)


x=(14+-√(36) )/(10) =(14+-6)/(10)


x_(1) =(14+6)/(10) =(20)/(10) =2


x_(2) =(14-6)/(10) =(8)/(10) =(4)/(5)
