I am trying to find domain and range from a graph and put it is proper notation but I don’t know how to tell if the inequality should be equal to or not

We have:

The domain is the set of all values of x that will result in real values of y. We see that the closed circles shown are included. So in this case, We can see that the graph extends horizontally from 1 to 7, both numbers included. Then the domain is:


\lbrack1,7\rbrack

The range is the set of all values of y resulting from using the domain as input. Then, we see that the graph extends vertically from -2 to 1-4. Therefore the range is:


\lbrack-2,-14\rbrack
