Add eqaution -3x + 10 y = 17 to equation 3x + 7y = 17 to obtain the value of y.

$\begin{gathered} -3x+10y+3x+7y=17+17 \\ 17y=34 \\ y=(34)/(17) \\ =2 \end{gathered}$

Substitute 2 for y in equation 3x + 7y = 17 to obtain the value of x.

$\begin{gathered} 3x+7\cdot2=17 \\ 3x=17-14 \\ x=(3)/(3) \\ =1 \end{gathered}$

So solution of the equations is (1,2).
