Let's remember the following:

1) In this case "Less than" means that there is a subtraction.

2) "The product" is the result of a multiplication.

Knowing the above, you know that " the product of 5 and -19" can be expressed as:


(5)(-19)

Then, "4 less than the product of 5 and -19" can be expressed as:


(5)(-19)-4

Giving you the following result:


(5)(-19)-4=-95-4=-99
