Anton picks corn at a local farm. He is paid 80 cents per bushel for the first 50 bushels, 90cents per bushel for the next 50 bushel, and $0.95 per bushel for all bushels picked over100. Express algebraically the amount Anton earns if he picks x bushels, where x >100.

We can define the number of units as x

With the info given we can calculate the price for the first 50 units like this:

P=0.8\cdot50=40

Now for the next 50 units we have this:

P2=0.9\cdot50=45

And finally for the price units over 100 we have:

P3=0.95(x-100)

And then the total price would be:

PF=P+P2+P3

And replacing we got:

PF=40+45+0.95(x-100)

And we can simplify and we got:

PF=85+0.95x-95
PF=0.95x-10
