Problem

Jada earned $50 babysitting and plans to use the money to go to the fair. Admission to the fair is $5 and each ride is $2.50. While at the fair, she buys a funnel cake for $3. What is the maximum number of rides Jada can ride?

Solution

For this case the total amount earned is 50$ but she buys a funnel cake for $2 so then she have remaining :

50-3=47$

Then we know that the admission fair is $5 and each ride costs $2.50 so we can create the following equation:

47 = 5 + 2.5x

Where x represent the number of rides, and if we solve for x we got:

42= 2.5 x

x= 42/2.5= 16.8

So then we can conclude that the maximum rides for this case would be 16
