Point W

The coordinates of the point of intersection of the two lines: (2, 4)

Step-by-step explanation:

y = -1/2 x + 5

y = -2x + 8

The point s on the graph represent the x and y values when one of the function is plotted.

We need to find the points fro each of the line given:

y = -1/2 x + 5

There are no fractions but whole numbers on the graph, we would be starting our x values from 0 (each unit increse by 2) so the y value will also be a whole number

when x = 0

y = -1/2(0) + 5

y = 0 + 5 = 5

when x = 2

y = -1/2 (2) + 5

y = -1 + 5 = 4

when x = 4

y = -1/2 (4) + 5

y = -2 + 5 = 3

we plot these points on the graph. Then draw the line with the orange line (in red in the first graph)

y = -2x + 8

when x = 0

y = -2(0) + 8 = 0 + 8 = 8

when x = 2

y = -2(2) + 8 = -4 + 8 = 4

when x = 4

y = -2(4) + 8 = -8 + 8 = 0

Now we plot this points on the graph. Then draw the line with the blue line

Plotting the graph:

The point of intersection of the two lines (x, y) is at (2, 4)

The coordinates of W is at (2, 4)

Hence, the point on the graph given where this two points intersect is W.

The coordinates of the point of intersection of the two lines: (2, 4)
