We have the following expression:

(2)/(3)x=-(1)/(2)x+5

We need all the terms with the variable "x" on the left side of the equation. The first step to do that is add "(-1/2)x" on both sides of the equation, because that will add with "(-1/2)x" to zero and there will be only constants on the right side.

(2)/(3)x+(1)/(2)x=-(1)/(2)x+(1)/(2)x+5
(2)/(3)x+(1)/(2)x=5
