Answer: 39 inch²

Explanation:

The rectangle's area was:

= Length * Width

= 6 * 8

= 48 inches²

The square's area is:

= Length * width

= 3 * 3

= 9 inches²

The square was cut out of the rectangle which means the area of the square should be deducted from the rectangle to find out the remaining area.

= 48 - 9

= 39 inch²
