To solve the equation, pass the 18 to substract to the other side.

\begin{gathered} x^2+10x=18 \\ x^2+10x-18=0 \end{gathered}

Now, solve the quadratic equation by using the quadratic formula:

\begin{gathered} x=\frac{-10\pm\sqrt[]{10^2-4\cdot1\cdot-18}}{2\cdot1} \\ x=\frac{-10\pm\sqrt[]{100+72}}{2} \\ x=\frac{-10\pm2\sqrt[]{43}}{2} \\ x1=-5+\sqrt[]{43} \\ x2=-5-\sqrt[]{43} \end{gathered}

x1 and x2 are the solutions of the equation.
