The estimated value is 0.013084 smaller than the actual value.

A function is described in this table. We have an output, y, for every input, x. With those points, we can use a linear regression calculator to get the following line equation.

y = -2.45138x + 11.82509

When we calculate x = 2.3 in our line, we get

y(2.3) = -2.45138 (2.30 + 11.82509

= 6.186916

Given that y = 6.2 for x = 2.3 is the result on the table, the discrepancy between the estimated and actual values is

6.2 - 6.186916 = 0.013084

The difference between the estimated and actual values is 0.013084.

This table describes a function. For each input x we have an output y. Using a linear regression calculator with those points, we get the following line equation
