To find the mean of the sample we will sum all the scores and divide by the number of students, therefore


\begin{gathered} \text{ mean }=(9\cdot90+18\cdot80+12\cdot70)/(39) \\ \end{gathered}

Now, let's use a calculator to solve it, we get


\text{mean }=(3090)/(39)

And then


\text{ mean = }79.23

Therefore, the mean of the sample is 79.23
