We have to calculate the difference, in degree celsius, between Alabama's record high temperature and Hawaii's record high temperature.

As the temperature for Alabama is expressed in °F, we have to convert it to °C using the formula given:


\begin{gathered} F=1.8\cdot C+32 \\ F-32=1.8C \\ C=(F-32)/(1.8) \\ C=(5)/(9)(F-32) \\ \Rightarrow C=(5)/(9)(112-32)=(5)/(9)(80)=44.4\degree C \end{gathered}

Now, we can calculate the difference as:


\Delta T=T_{\text{Alab}}-T_{\text{Haw}}=44.4-37.8=6.6\degree C

Answer: the difference of temperature between Alabama and Hawaii is 6.6 °C.
