SOLUTION

From the question the height of the can is 4 ft and its diameter is 1.5 ft

The radius r of the can since it is shaped like a cylinder is

r=\frac{diameter\text{ }}{2}=(1.5)/(2)=0.75\text{ ft }

The quantity or the contents of the container is the volume V of a cylinder, which is

\begin{gathered} V=\pi r^2h \\ V=\pi*0.75^2*4 \\ V=7.06858 \\ V=7.1\text{ ft}^3 \end{gathered}

Now, we are told that the average weight of aluminium cans is 37 ounces per cubic feet.

This means that 1 cubic feet of aluminium weighs 37 ounces. But the contents is approximately 7.1 cubic feet. Hence 7.1 cubic feet of aluminium will weigh

\begin{gathered} 7.1*37 \\ =262.7\text{ ounces } \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is approximately 262.7 ounces
