the equation is of the form y = mx + b,

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)=(-7-(-10))/(-4-2)=(-7+10)/(-6)=(3)/(-6)=-(1)/(2)

for b:

\begin{gathered} -10=-(1)/(2)(2)+b \\ -10=-1+b \\ -10+1=-1+b+1 \\ b=-9 \end{gathered}

the equation is

y=-(1)/(2)x-9
