SOLUTION

(1) Three friends painted three rocks each and sold them. The number of rocks these three friends sold althogether is

\begin{gathered} 3\text{ friends }*\text{ 3 rocks, that is } \\ 3*3=9 \\ \text{which is 9 rocks } \end{gathered}

So, the answer is 9 rocks.

(2) Since each rock sold for $5.00, that is

The bars above show the 9 rocks the children sold. So, from the bar diagram,

\begin{gathered} 5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5=45 \\ or \\ 5\text{ dollars }*\text{ 9 rocks } \\ 5*9=45 \end{gathered}

Hence, the answer is $45.00
