6 ft tall at start grows 3ft per year
0 ft tall at start grows 6ft per year
x years when trees be the same heights
6ft+3ft•x= 0ft+6ft•x
3ft•x-6ft•x=0ft-6ft
-3ft•x= -6ft
X= -6ft/-3ft
X=2 yrs
In 2 years the trees will be at the same height.

Tina planted a tree. It started at 6 feet and every year it grows another three feet. The expression representing this is 6 + 3x, where x represents years.

Tinas neighbor also planted a tree where each year (which we called x) it grows 6 feet. The expression to represent this is 6x.

If you want to know when they’ll be the same height, then you need to set the expressions equal to each other.

6 + 3x = 6x

To solve, first get the variable to one side

6 = 3x

Divide each side by 3

x = 2

The trees wi be the same height the 2nd year.
