For a particular 4 leaf clover, the highway had to be compacted on the south side making the circles two different sizes. The two circles on the north of the highway have a radius of 121 feet and the two on the south side have a radius of 103 feet. Calculate the total area of grass seed needed for these four circles.

To calculate the total area of grass seed needed we calculate the area of each circle separately and then add them together.

since there are 2 types of circle calculate for a circle of radius 121 ft and for another with radius 103 ft.

\begin{gathered} A=\pi\cdot r^2 \\ A=\pi\cdot(103)^2 \\ A=10609\pi \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} A=\pi\cdot r^2 \\ A=\pi\cdot(121)^2 \\ A=14641\pi \end{gathered}

add the 2 areas together

\begin{gathered} A=10609\pi+14641\pi \\ A=25250\pi \end{gathered}

Since ther are 2 circles from each one, multiply the result by 2.

\begin{gathered} A_T=2\cdot25250\pi \\ A_T=50500\pi \end{gathered}

The area needed for the grass seed is 50500pi square feet.
