2x-3y=-24 and x+6y=18

x = -6; y = 4

Explanation:

I don't know how to use elimination but I think substitution is highly similar.

x=-6y+18

2(-6y+18)-3y=-24

-15y+36=-24

-15y=-60

y=4

x+6(4)=18

x+24=18

x=-6

I can check these answers by uzing x and y in the equations:

2(-6)-3(4)=-24

-12-12=-24

-24=-24

-6+24=18

18=18
