The graph shows that f(x) = 3^x is translated horizontally and vertically to create the function g(x) = 3^(x – h) + k. What is the value of h?

Given:

\begin{gathered} f(x)=3^x \\ g(x)=3^((x-h))+k \end{gathered}

Find: Value of h,k

Sol:

f(x)=3^x

The graph shift 2 unit on a positive x-axis then the graph is:

g(x)=3^(x-2)

For baseline move 2 units in the positive y-axis.

g(x)=3^(x-2)+2

So the value of h is 2.
