In order to rent 8 movies, the total cost is:


\begin{gathered} f(x)=3x+15 \\ f(8)=3\cdot8+15 \\ f(8)=24+15 \\ f(8)=39 \end{gathered}

Since Bralen already has $12, he needs:


39-12=27

So Bralen needs $27 more dollars, therefore the correct option is b.
