The serum is the part of the whole blood that is colleted after the blood is allowed to clot. For serum preparation the whole blood colleted is allowed to clot by leaving it undisturbed (room temperature), and after 15-30 minutes the blood will be centrifuged to remove the serum from the clot, that is the supernatant of the sample. Therefore, the way to obtain the serum from a blood sample is by clotted blood centrifugation.
