y =4x - 5 ....eqn(1)

y = 2x -1 .....eqn(2)

Equate both equations, that is,

4x -5 = 2x -1

Collect like terms,

4x - 2x = 5 - 1

2x = 4

Divide both sides by 2, we get,

x =4/2

x = 2

Now, substitute 2 for x in eqn(2);

y = 2(2) - 1

y = 4 - 1

y = 3

Hence, the solution is; x =2, y = 3 or you simply write: ( 2, 3 )
